在五章一节，那位坐宝座的手中有书卷，用七印封严了。这七印实际上就是这书卷的内容，也是启示录的内容。启示录正是揭开并启示这七印的，其中记载了神对召会、以色列人、世界和宇宙的意念；新约是宇宙的秘密，又是启示录的内容。基督升天以后，这奥秘已经被基督的死、复活和升天揭开了。所以，启示录这本书就是神手里打开的秘密，展开的书卷。现在，我们读启示录的时候，乃是读那被升天的基督所展开之书卷的内容。
启示录第五章的中心乃是“狮子羔羊”，在这里有一幅基督升天后，诸天之上的景象。天使引荐基督是狮子，但约翰看见祂是羔羊。基督是狮子，祂已经得胜，胜过了撒但、邪灵、死亡、阴间；祂也是羔羊，为我们死，除去了我们的罪，赎回我们作祭司、君王。祂已经得胜了，也成功了救赎。现在祂是那狮子羔羊，但愿颂赞、尊贵、荣耀、权能，都归与祂，直到永永远远！
