【读圣经学英语】实行祂的旨意

约翰福音-John 7 章 13~18节

7:13 只是没有人公开的讲论祂,因为怕犹太人。
Yet no one spoke openly about Him for fear of the JEWS.
7:14 节期当中,耶稣上殿里去施教。
But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and began to teach.
7:15 犹太人就希奇说,这个人没有学过,怎么会明白书?
The Jews therefore marveled and said, How does this man know letters, without ever having studied?
7:16 耶稣回答说,我的教训不是我自己的,乃是那差我来者的。
Jesus therefore answered them and said, My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
7:17 人若立志实行祂的旨意,就必晓得这教训或是出于神,或是我从自己说的。
If anyone resolves to do His will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.
7:18 那从自己说的,是寻求自己的荣耀;惟有那寻求差祂来者之荣耀的,这人才是真的,在祂里面没有不义。
He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of Him who sent Him, this One is true, and unrighteousness is not in Him.

亮光

主虽然是全能的神,(赛九6,)却作了受逼迫的人,在行动上也受到限制。(约七10。)祂不愿自由行动。主虽然是无所不知的神,却作了卑微的人,被人看作没有学过的。『犹太人就希奇说,这个人没有学过,怎么会明白书?』(约七15。)主虽然受教育不多,却懂得一切。祂不但明白书,也明白人的心思、人的心和人的灵。主不寻求自己的荣耀,只寻求神的荣耀。(约七17~18。)

神设立这住棚节,是要以色列子民记念他们的祖宗在旷野飘流时,曾如何住在帐棚里,(利二三39~43,)期望进入美地的安息。因此,这也是题醒:人今天仍在旷野里,需要进入新耶路撒冷的安息,就是进入永远的帐幕。(启二一2~3。)亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各也曾住在帐棚里,盼望这永远的帐幕,(来十一9~10,)其中有『一道生命水的河,…从神和羔羊的宝座流出来,』解除人的干渴。(启二二1,17。)

主虽然是永远无限的神,(罗九5,)却作了人在地上生活,甚至受时间的限制。主甘愿失去祂的自由,受时间的约束,实行父的旨意,好将生命的活水供应我们。

Enlightenment:

The Lord is the Almighty God (Isa. 9:6), but as a man under persecution He was limited in His activity (John 7:10). He would not act freely. Although the Lord is the omniscient God, He, as a lowly man, appeared to be illiterate. “The Jews then marveled and said, How does this man know letters, having never learned?” (7:15). Although the Lord had little education, He knew everything. He not only knew the letters; He knew the minds, hearts, and spirits of men. The Lord would not seek His own glory, but the glory of God (7:17-18).

God ordained this feast of Tabernacles so that the children of Israel would remember how their fathers, while wandering in the wilderness, lived in tents (Lev. 23:39-43) with the expectation of entering into the rest of the good land. Hence, this feast is also a reminder that people today are still in the wilderness and need to enter into the rest of the New Jerusalem, which is the eternal tabernacle (Rev. 21:2-3). Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob also lived in tents, looking forward to this eternal tabernacle (Heb. 11:9-10), in which there will be “a river of water of life, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb” to quench man’s thirst (Rev. 22:1, 17). 

Although the Lord is the eternal, infinite, unlimited God (Rom. 9:5), He lived on earth as a man, limited even in the matter of time. The Lord was willing to lose His freedom, to be bound in the matter of time, and to do the will of the Father so that He could minister the living water of life to us.
